Tour of the 1864 Lyman Homestead

Led by Author Diana Ross McCain

Saturday, August 14, 11 a.m.

Diana Ross McCain, author of Thy Children’s Children, will lead a tour of several rooms of the 1864 Lyman Homestead at 3 Lyman Road on Saturday, August 14, at 11 a.m.  Following the tour, copies of Thy Children’s Children will be available for sale for $19.95 (cash or check), and autographing.

The tour will include a brief overview of eight generations of Lymans, with highlights from the family’s heritage on the land since 1741. It will focus on David Lyman (1820-1871), who used a fortune earned from manufacturing washing machines and wringers in Middlefield to build the grand Homestead. The 24-room Lyman Homestead is on the National Register of Historic Places and on Connecticut’s Freedom Trail. It was home to Lyman family members from 1864 to 1999, and today is available for rental for private events.

Admission to the tour, which will last about 40 minutes and be limited to 15 people, will be $10. Reservations must be made in advance at https://lymanorchards.com/events/lyman-homestead-tours/.
